Esther Salvi is research assistant as well as PhD candidate. She has been working at the Chair for Corporate Sustainability since January 2019, where she assists in the organization, communication and coordination of the International Summer School – “Sustainable Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice” taking place at the TUM School of Management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology and a Master’s degree in Food Technology and Science from the University of Milano (Italy) where she graduated with distinction in 2018.

In her research and teaching, she focuses on sustainable entrepreneurship in developing countries, with a major focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. She aims at understanding the role of informal and semi-formal micro-enterprises, which is linked to future development of specific policies for the enhancement of micro-enterprises formalization and growth. Beside this, she focuses also on social ties and informal associations in rural villages, e.g. manufacturers associations and women associations, and their role on micro-enterprises economic outcomes (e.g. access to credit and thus enterprise performance) and social outcomes (empowerment, knowledge share, etc.).
